  Why Test

Why Test?

Many  illnesses and disease states can be prevented with routine physical exams and laboratory testing.  High cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease,  and end organ damage from high blood pressure may be totally asymptomatic. Certain sexually transmitted diseases including Chlamydia can be asymptomatic as well, and lead to infertility.

Wellness testing has become the norm in regard to routine health care, and now is as affordable as ever.  Our complete wellness panel is a thorough lab evaluation which includes testing for anemia, electrolyte balance, thyroid function, liver function, kidney function, glucose (diabetes evaluation), and cholesterol testing. Now ,this can all be accomplished with one blood test, at an extremely affordable price, without a prescription.  This comprehensive information is extremely useful to your physician in the diagnosis of many potential medical conditions.

Many HMO’s unfortunately do not cover routine preventative laboratory testing.   Most will pay for testing once symptoms develop.  Sometimes, unfortunately, the medical condition may be advanced and therefore, more difficult to treat.  Early testing may help to  avoid  this.

Still yet other reasons to test include monitoring kidney and liver function if patients are on medications that may adversely effect these two systems.  One example of this is the hepatotoxic (liver toxic) effects of many of the cholesterol lowering agents.  In patients who take these medications, a liver panel should be checked every six months.  Patients on seizure medications need to frequently check drug levels in the bloodstream to make sure they are within a ‘therapeutic window.’  Patients taking coumadin must check protimes at fairly regular intervals to make sure their blood is not ‘too thin or too thick.’

Whatever the reason may be, patients now have the opportunity to order any test in a convenient, cost-effective, and confidential matter at MedLabUSA.
